You know what's wrong with this? That the majority wants to tell the
minority what's good for them. I suggest it's the Tyroleans themselves
who should decide what's good for them, not the outsiders. Judging from
the peace there since the current arrangement, they must like it.
It's only natural that most people want a place where they feel like at
home among their own kind. Especially in this atomized, alianated
world.

Dear Jose Daniel!

You got a very good advise from Moscow ( I would've added Sunny
Turkmenistan and personally Turkmen-bashi Sapparmurat Niyazov to the
list )
Experiment is almost over. It's been a pretty good one ( for those
who managed to escape ). But you still can make it to participate.
People like you tried quite wide variety of methods operating with
human herds, human material trying to make them happy forever. Somehow
nobody wanted to be happy in the herd and happily chew his (or her )
ration. Somehow, always and everywhere, from the Arctic Ocean coast to
the tropics it turned out to be fucking mess and nothing else. BTW,
being a proletariat I democratically elected all bosses in my company
including the president. One more bullshit for poor bastards.
Hello to Turkmen-bashi if you are able to make it Oleg Povetko

Let me see if I understand correctly. Once you are in power (HIGHLY unlikely),
 won't the

Perhaps people don't take you seriously because you don't make sense. It's nice

For students intending to visit Hungary for the summer, it might be
interesting to give a voluntary hand to some NGO's involved with the Rom.

There are many Rom organizations which need help. The Human Rights Project
(HRP) in Bulgaria, is an NGO which documents human rights abuses against
Roma and provides free legal services to Roma to combat discrimination,
police brutality, etc. Graduate students can operate mostly in English.

Well, I also don't believe in the donated collective rights. Those
collective rights has to be extorted either by the minority (yes,
forexample by bombing as the Tyrolean did it) or by the Hunga-
rian government (using diplomatic and not so diplomatic pressure.)

I think, however, you completely missed the hard message of
the letter of Roman Kanala. He says - as far as I am able to
understand -that the ratification of the treaty on Hungarian
side was a disastrous diplomatic failure which hurts not only the
Hungarian minority itself but also the Slovaks too by stabilizing,
giving credibility to and letting gain international acceptance for
a far from democratic Slovak government.

As predicted by the pretentious name of TRUTH (why do
religious nuts always write truth in all-capitals, anyway),
it turned out to be another one of those "Born-agains are
right and everyone else is wrong" sites, complete with
a creationism promotion section, and other material
putting down variants of Christianity like Mormons,
Jehovah's Witnesses, and Christian Scientists.

Noticeably, though, they had no section challenging
atheism or agnosticism, which would definitely show
their bias and weakness in seeking any truth.

My dear and very inquisitive Sir Panonescu, to be most accurate about this
revolutionnary mouvements, you must know the fact that, from a historical point
 of
view, the Romanian changements were starting in 1988(!) at ...Chisinau. Pastor
Tokes
has not at all any contributions in this impressive change. Please, try to prac
tice
the comparative historical studies.

In Iasi city, it was programmated, by the so-called Popular Front of Romani
a
(similar to the Popular Front of Moldova), the anti-communist meeting for Decem
ber
14, 1989 (three days earlier by comparison with the spontaneous solidarity of
Timisoara's citizens -behind any ethnic criteria- with that pastor PRIVATE
cause...)... In a big part of Iasi, from Copou hill to the industrial zone, ma
ny
hundreds anti-communist manifests were spreded a day before...Unfortunately, th
e
initiators of that very rational and programming revolutionary meeting in Iasi
city,
were, immmediately, arrested and the town occupied by the ancient political
police...

Couldn't be a plausible explanation the fact that the communist regimes
from the other Warsaw Pact countries where more obedient to the
directives coming from Moscow ? Remember, Romania was the only one
that hadn't russian troops stationed on her soil.
Couldn't this mean that Romania was harder to influence than
a country that has russian bases on her soil ?
Unfortunately romanians could not benefit as others from the
"perestroika" and "glasnost" radiating from Moscow.

In november 1987 in Brasov (second largest city in Romania) there
has been an uprising.
It occurred while a fake election event was taking place.
It was a spontaneous movement that involved the workers of the
"Tractorul" factory (I think). I know that a mob of angry people
devastated the party and mayory buildings.
But I guess that 1987 was a bit too early for the dismantlement
of the iron cortin.

At that time (1987) nobody have heard anything about Tokes. Actually I
started hearing about him just a few months before December 1989
(from Radio Free Europe of course).

Everybody has heard about the hungarian 1956 uprising while nobody knew
(even romanians didn't knew) about the partisan war waged in the
Carpathians by anti-communist forces until the 50s.
But is not the first time romanian's acts remain anonymous. You know,
those daco-romans anonymously retreating in the same Carpathians,
while those magyar tribes where making a big noise while settling
in Panonia ;-)

Roman is one of the good guys with whom I tend to agree in most things,

+ - Rumours about AINAZI,a Latvian border station (mind) VÁLASZ  Feladó: (cikkei)

I would like to have, if possible, some feed back about Latvian
border stations specially about AINAZI border station on
the Estonian-Latvian border.

I travelled to Latvia from Estonia via Ainazi border station
without problems in a larger group.

But, the rumours are circulating over here in Finland:

* occassionally personnel on Ainazi border station work *drunk*

* personnel on the border station *steal* passports from the
  travellers?
...specially in danger are those travelling alone, in a private
  car, businessmen and alike

You may have bought in the station the insurance for your car
but when after giving the passport to the personnel they claim
there is no passport. The personnel on the station does act
not very plesant. It is said that about 180 Finnish passports
is stolen allready in the course of this year solely on the
  border station in Ainazi.

Is this problem something what some other people may have heard?

Good news, too. An acquintace of mine travelled over Lithuanian
Polish border in 15 minutes without problems. In generally it is
said even two days is normal routine and you have to give
bribes for the personnel on the border between Lithuania
  and Poland.

How works Via Baltica road connection in generally. Any experiences?

  regards,
  jami

ps. Via Baltica is an opportunity for the three Baltic states.
The road is good. Services are sufficient. Not that bad
traffic either. Nice sceneries. Interesting lingual and
cultural landscape. And cheap from the Finnish point of
    view.

Therefore I hope someone could repeal the rumours about
    Ainazi.

    Valga-Valka experiences are also welcome.
    However,mine are good.

Peter,
that response was to Charlie, not you, so I am at a loss about what
you're talking about. In fact, you are just confirming what I was

Noch dazu, a fizeto szakasz
elkerulesehez igen alapos helyismeret szukseges, a kevesbe dorzsoltek egybol
